Managerial Decision Making

Early this year I decided to focus my studies on the leadership & management sides of organisations, and I enrolled for Strategic Leadership and Management Specialization, a specialization from the University of Illinois on Coursera. I found the courses really complete in terms of content and recommended material, and, so far, these courses gave me a great background on topics such as the foundations and applications of leadership, group decisions and fostering decision, conflict management and so on.

The Journey from Berlin to Copenhagen by Bike

On Friday, April 19th, Luísa and I started our journey from Berlin to Copenhagen by bike, on our first bike tour. We took 8,5 days to get there, sound and safe, and we crossed some fantastic paths and landscapes. This is a well-known bike route and we discovered later that it’s part of a bigger EuroVelo, which starts in Malta and finishes in the North Cape – or the other way around, the EuroVelo 7.

Find the closest bar

As the weather gets warmer, people tend to hang out more often and Berlin offers many options of bars, pubs, and biergartens to have a great time with your friends. Doesn’t need to be in summer though, the first warm day of spring already takes people out of their homes.

Lakes in Berlin, what a wonderful surprise

I must say, finding such a warm summer in Europe was surprising for me. To be completely fair, the last two summers haven’t had the usual average temperatures and it’s fair to say that even for people who have been living here longer than me, this weather was unexpected. This is not small talk and I’m not here to warn of global warming, it’s just a note to put you in context about why I’m so happy that around Berlin has an incredible number of swimming lakes.

Start by don't repeating yourself in CSS

CSS is a convenient programming language, we can be as lazy developer as we want and it will still works. I assume that you know what the results will be if you choose the lazy way. We share techniques and philosophy with software engineering principles, like DRY, Single Responsibility, Open/closed principal, Separations of concerns among others. DRY is a useful principle to get start with in CSS if you aren’t yet.
